Biography

I am a professor at the Instituto de Matemática e Estatística of the Universidade de São Paulo (IME-USP).

I earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics from the Federal University of Ceará, and my Ph.D. from the Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA). I held postdoctoral positions at some of the world's leading research institutions: the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel), the University of Maryland (USA), and Université Paris-Sud 11 (France).

My research focuses primarily on Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory — areas devoted to the mathematical study of the time evolution of complex systems and the mechanisms that produce apparently chaotic behavior. Recent work covers symbolic dynamics, non-uniform hyperbolicity, and statistical properties of geodesic flows.
